Mytas road project stands cancelled

The Government on Friday cancelled the Rs 121-crore road-laying work in Kadapa district between Mangapatnam and Kesukamanchipallio.

An order to this effect was issued by the Government on Friday. The road project was awarded to the tainted Maytas Infra after the Satyam Computer Services scam was exposed. In view of the perceived link between Maytas and Satyam, there has been negative publicity against Maytas.

The Government after being pulled up by the Court for awarding the project on a 'nomination' basis, which means there was no competitive bidding, was forced to allot the work by calling for open tenders.

The road-laying work in Kadapa district was sanctioned by the Government on December 20, 2008.
