Crazy Kalyanam(2026) Movie: What's Behind

Anupama Parameswaran, Tharun Bhascker, VK Naresh and Akhil Raj come together for Crazy Kalyanam, directed by Badrappa Gajula. The film deals with a father's concerns about his daughter's marriage and her wish to become independent. With a rural Telangana backdrop and a mix of family drama and comedy, the film has an interesting point to make. Let us see how it works on screen.

Crazy Kalyanam(2026) Movie: Story Review

Parvathalu (VK Naresh) has two daughters. His elder daughter is married to Balaraju (Tharun Bhascker), a man whose drinking habits and irresponsible behaviour keep creating problems for the family. Having seen this situation, Parvathalu wants to find a better match for his younger daughter Keerthi (Anupama Parameswaran). He looks for a wealthy groom who has a good background and no bad habits.

Keerthi, however, has different plans. She wants to complete her education, get a job and stand on her own feet. She loves Uday (Akhil Raj), who has been in love with her since childhood. But Uday does not have a job or the financial background her father expects.

Things get complicated when Parvathalu finalises a marriage proposal from a wealthy family. What will Keerthi do? Will her father understand her wishes? The rest of the story revolves around these questions.

Crazy Kalyanam(2026) Movie: Artists Review

Anupama Parameswaran does a good job as Keerthi. She gets the Telangana slang right and brings the right emotions to her character. Her performance is one of the film's positives.

VK Naresh gets a role that gives him a chance to show his emotional side. He is particularly effective in the final 30 minutes, where a lengthy scene stands out. His performance adds weight to the climax, even though the film takes too long to reach that point.

Tharun Bhascker has the potential to bring more laughs as Balaraju, but the writing doesn't make full use of his comic timing. His character could have been much more entertaining. Akhil Raj has a good screen presence and suits the romantic role, though the love track itself lacks freshness.

Crazy Kalyanam(2026) Movie: Technicians Review

Director Badrappa Gajula chooses a subject that many families can relate to. The film also has a meaningful message about girls becoming independent and parents supporting their daughters ambitions. But a good idea alone isn't enough to make a film work.

The first half takes too long to establish the characters and get to the main conflict. Even Keerthi and Uday's love story fails to create much interest. The story picks up when Parvathalu diverts a marriage proposal intended for another family member and decides to arrange the match for his own daughter. However, the interval lacks the impact needed to make viewers curious about what happens next.

The second half also has its share of slow moments. The English classes track and some village episodes don't add much to the story. Tharun Bhascker provides a few lighter moments, but his comedy could have been used more effectively.

The film finally finds some emotional strength in the last 30 minutes. The scenes involving Naresh's character bring the much-needed intensity, and the climax conveys the importance of a girl getting an education and becoming independent. However, a fight added towards the end feels forced and doesn't fit naturally into the story.

The cinematography captures the village atmosphere well, while the editing could have been sharper. The number of songs also affects the pace in places. A tighter screenplay and more engaging first half would have made a noticeable difference.

Crazy Kalyanam: Advantages

  • Anupama Parameswaran
  • VK Naresh's performance
  • A meaningful message
  • Rural Telangana backdrop

Crazy Kalyanam: Drawbacks

  • Familiar romantic track
  • Slow narration
  • Emotional scenes lack impact
  • Slow first half
  • Comedy that works only in parts

Crazy Kalyanam(2026) Movie: Rating Analysis

Crazy Kalyanam has a relatable story at its core. A father wants his daughter to marry into a wealthy family because he fears she might face the same problems as her elder sister. Meanwhile, the daughter wants to study, get a job, and make her own decisions. There is enough scope here for an engaging family drama.

Unfortunately, the film takes too long to get going. The romance doesn't create much interest, the comedy has failed in many parts, several scenes feel like they are only filling time. The final 30 minutes are considerably better, with VK Naresh delivering an emotional performance that helps the film recover somewhat.

The director's intentions are good, but the screenplay needed more work to turn the subject into a consistently engaging entertainer. The climax makes a point worth hearing, yet the journey towards it feels unnecessarily long.

Crazy Kalyanam(2026) Movie: Verdict

Crazy Kalyanam has a good message and finds some emotional strength towards the end. Anupama Parameswaran and VK Naresh deliver noteworthy performances, but the slow narration and missed opportunities with comedy hold the film back. Better writing and a tighter screenplay could have made this a more satisfying family entertainer.
