Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Approves Six Shows From 6 AM

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has approved a major change in cinema screening rules across the state. Under the new government order, theatres can screen newly released Tamil films up to six shows a day, with shows starting as early as 6 AM and continuing until 2:30 AM the following day.

The permission will remain in effect for the first seven days from a film's release. The same six show limit will also apply on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays and local festival days. The government has directed officials to amend the Tamil Nadu Cinemas (Regulation) Rules, 1957, to implement the decision.

The decision follows requests from the Tamil Film Active Producers Association, Tamil Film Producers Council and Tamil Nadu Theatre and Multiplex Owners Association. Earlier, theatres were generally allowed four shows daily, while the present government had increased the limit to five for new releases. The latest order raises it further to six.

The decision comes at the right time for the upcoming Diwali releases, particularly Suriya's Scene and Nayanthara's Mookuthi Amman 2, both arriving on November 6. Scene, directed by Jithu Madhavan and featuring Nazriya Nazim and Naslen, is among the first films expected to benefit. However, exact show timings depend on individual theatres.
