Purandeswari gets promotion in Union Cabinet

Union Minister of State for Industry and Commerce Daggubati Purandeswari on Thursday got promotion with Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh allocating independent charge of Textiles Ministry to her.

Purandeswari's portfolio was changed from Human Resource Development to Industry and Commerce during the recent cabinet reshuffle. However, she was reportedly unhappy with the change and conveyed the same to Congress president Sonia Gandhi. She reportedly complained that junior Parliamentarians including Chiranjeevi were allocated higher portfolios and she was ignored during the reshuffle.

However, the Prime Minister on Thursday allocated the independent charge of the Textile Ministry to the Visakhapatnam MP. Panabaka Lakshmi who has been shifted to the Petroleum Ministry as the Minister of State earlier held this portfolio.
