Ace director Murugadoss is gearing up to show his creative power along with Super Star Rajinikanth in the high voltage action entertainer Darbar. The film is releasing on Jan 9 sparking Sankranti celebrations across the country.
Of late Murugadoss and Rajinikanth are not having the best of the times at the box office. However, fans are getting super excited as Rajini is donning the role of a police officer after a longtime and is romancing lady superstar Nayanthara in the film.
Revealing Darbar secrets, Murugadoss said, “I met Rajini sir one and a half year back to narrate the story. I thought about what roles he did and what he did not. I penned Darbar story in such a way that it should not have Rajini's old film shades and at the same time have all the elements his fans expect in Rajini's films."
On Rajini's police officer role, Murugadoss explained “For quite some time, Rajini sir did not do police role. He was seen in Khaki colors last in Alex Pandian. So I decided to create a police role."
On believing sentiment, he said, “True. When I was shooting Vijay's Tupaki, people scared me citing sentiments. They told that films do not do well when shot in the harbor or hero sporting an army dress. I broke this sentiment with Tupaki. Similarly many told that if the film was shot in Mumbai, it will not be a hit. I am confident that with Darbar I will break that sentiment."
He said Nayanatara will be seen in a key role as an architect and most of the film revolves around a hero and the villain. On police sporting a beard, Murugadoss said, “We concentrated a lot on Rajini's look. We finalized this look after getting a sketch and a photo shoot. We interacted with few cops on whether a cop can have a beard. They told us that on religious grounds or on health grounds with special permission, cops can grow a beard. We have shot all scenes in a logical manner".
