The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday decided to intensify the movement seeking statehood for the Telangana region.
The strategy and future plans for the statehood agitation were discussed during the meeting of Bjp Telangana Region State Office Bearers and Telangana Udyama Committee at the State Party Headquarters at Nampally. Briefing the media about the decision Committee's chairman P Rajeshwar said that the party would intensify the Telangana agitation by conducting various activities across the region. He said that people needs to be convinced that only the Bjp-led National Democratic Alliance could give Telangana State.
Rajeshwar accused the Congress and Telugu Desam Party of having dual stand on the statehood issue. Further, he said the proposed alliance between the MIM and YSR Congress party were aimed at delaying the decision on the statehood issue. He also said that the unilateral decisions taken by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and its president K Chandrasekhar Rao caused damage to the Telangana movement.
However, he said that the Bjp would intensify the statehood agitation across the Telangana region. He also announced party's support to the Telangana Bharosa Yatra proposed to be taken up by Nagarkurnool MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy. He said that the Bjp would also support the yatra being organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad for the Telangana State.
The meeting, inaugurated by Bjp State President G Kishan Reddy, was attended by several senior leaders including former union minister Ch Vidyasagar Rao, former MLA N Indirasena Reddy and others.
