Nagam: Wipe out Congress to achieve 'T'

Former minister and Telangana Nagara Samithi president Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Friday stated that Telangana would not be a reality unless the Congress party was wiped out of the region.

Talking to reporters at the State Secretariat here on Friday, Nagam said that the Congress party was preparing ground to dilute the demand of Telangana. Referring to the constitution of a committee to coordinate between the State Government and the Congress party, he said that the inclusion of leaders like Mohammad Ali Shabbir and Damodar Rajanarasimha, who he claimed were in favour of united Andhra Pradesh, in the committee was a clear indication that Congress would not give Telangana.

Nagam alleged that leaders like D Srinivas and Shabbir Ali always worked against the interest of Telangana and that was the reason why they rewarded by the Congress party.

The former minister also criticised MPs from the Telangana region for resorting to formal protest in the Parliament demanding statehood for the region. He said that the MPs have failed to raise the issue during the winter session of the Parliament. He also questioned the silence of ministers and Congress and TDP MLAs from the region for the silence that they have adopted over the Telangana agitation.

Nagam also asked the Telugu Desam Telangana Forum members to get a letter from their party president N Chandrababu Naidu in favour of Telangana before blaming other parties and leaders. However, he maintained that separate statehood could be achieved only through joint efforts by leaders of all political parties and groups.
