Akshay Kumar is the most busiest Star Hero in Indian Cinema. Right from the beginning of his career in 90's he had multiple releases every year. He even had 8 to 10 films released per year. Even during after pandemic he is the only hero who had released a dozen films including three direct to OTT films. Bollywood’s Khiladi Kumar is all set to hit big screens with a bunch of sequels and films with unique storyline after his recent blockbuster OMG 2.
He had lined up 10 films in the upcoming 12 to 18 months. His upcoming film, “Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue” is set to release on 6th October. The film is inspired by the courageous act of the Late Shri Jaswant Singh Gill, who carried out India’s coal mine rescue expedition and received various awards for his bravery. Parineeti Chopra is the female lead. His next, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan co,-starring Tiger Shroff is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and is set to release in multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The film is under pre-production and is scheduled for a 2023 Christmas release.
Akshay Kumar will be making his Marathi debut with historical epic, “Vedhat Marathi Veer Daudle Saat,” directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. For the first time ever, Akshay will play the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the big screen. Akshay Kumar confirmed the comeback of the Housefull franchise with the fifth chapter of the comedy-drama in June. The film, directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, will reunite Riteish Deshmukh and Akshay Kumar. The film will be released in theatres on Diwali next year.
Akshay also announced, Welcome 3 : Welcome To The Jungle directed by Ahmed Khan, with an ensemble cast of Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi, Mika Singh, Rahul Dev, Mukesh Tiwari, Sharib Hashmi, Inaamulhaq, Zakir Hussain, Yashpal Sharma, alongside Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani and Vrihi Kodvara. The movie is in the pre-production phase and will hit theatres on December 20, 2024.
Along with these films he is also doing Suriya's Soorarai Pottru remake in Hindi which is tentatively titled as Startup, Singam Again with Ajay Devgn in Rohit Shetty's direction where he is playing the role from his Sooryavanshi as a part of Rohit Shetty's Cop Verse. He also has Hera Pheri 3, Sky Force and Shankara at various stages of production.
