Actress Richa Gangopadhyay, who made her debut with Leader opposite Rana Daggubati, had later starred in films like Nagavalli, Mirapakay, Sarocharu, Mirchi and Bhai with Nagarjuna was her last film.
In October 2013, Gangopadhyay announced that she would leave the film industry and move back to the United States to pursue her MBA and focus on a long-term career in business management.
Richa Gangopadhyay got married to her long-term boyfriend in both Hindu and Christian traditions. The close members of both families and friends have attended the function. Nonetheless, the actress was trolled for marrying a foreigner and she came up with a fitting reply.
Her statement reads: I moved to the U.S. when I was 3 and have been a U.S. citizen since the 90s. Even though I was born in India, I do consider the U.S. "home". I was lucky enough to be raised with both cultures so got to enjoy best of both worlds. I literally only lived in India during my acting years (5 years), so a little baffling to see comments about me marrying a "foreigner", by which logic I would be one as well.
Be open minded, people, there's no benefit to restricting yourself to your own race when it comes to finding your life partner. You might be surprised at the similarities in values you find in someone from a different culture. I hit the jackpot with someone who loves and embraces my culture as much as I do.”
