Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth campaigned against ADMK, led by then Chief Minister, Jayalalitha during the general elections, 1996. Rajini also extended his support to the opposition party DMK led by Karunanidhi. Finally, DMK got the victory in the elections. The credit of DMK's victory was attributed to Rajinikanth. However, the fact is that Jayalalitha's government was facing anti incumbency then. Even if Rajini did not support DMK, the party could have got the victory.
Looks like Power Star Pawan Kalyan repeats Rajini's experience in AP state's politics for this year's general elections. As we know, the Congress government has been facing anti incumbency for the past few years. In addition to this, state's bifurcation made the party to be cursed by everyone in Seemandhra region. In this scenario, even if Pawan Kalyan did not float a new party, the Congress surely would lose in these elections. However, at the end, Pawan Kalyan might be credited as one of the reasons for Congress' defeat. This is due to his timing in entering politics. However, personally, Pawan Kalyan may not get benefited for these elections as other opposition political parties like TDP or YSR CP may form the government in Seemandhra.
