Naga Chaitanya Akkineni has been trying to re-invent his image at this point in his career. He delivered hits like Premam, Majili, Love Story which did not just give him box office success but also brought him accolades as a an actor. After Dootha web-series, he announced his next as big budget Pan India movie 'Thandel' with Chandoo Mondeti.

Naga Chaitanya is playing the role of a fisherman from Srikakulam in Thandel. His 'Love Story' co-star Sai Pallavi is playing female leading role in this film. Geetha Arts is producing the movie and he talked about his character and the film. Naga Chaitanya stated that larger-than-life visual extravaganzas are the only thing pulling audiences to theatres during this OTT phase.

He believes that one simply can’t put up a visual extravaganza because that’s what the market requires, But it must be an organic process in which the content dictates the project’s scope, and most importantly, one must suit the character, echoed his clear views about event films. 

Later, Naga Chaitanya stated that he extensively trained for the film. He said, “I spent nearly nine months preparing for Thandel. It’s such an inspirational story. I wanted to make sure I get everything right, especially the Srikakulam accent.” He concluded by saying that this is the biggest film of his career and he needed this role. Devi Sri Prasad is composing the music and the film is gearing up to release this December.
