Is Leo A Remake Of Popular Hollywood Film

Thalapathy Vijay Leo directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj is the talk of south film industry now as the release date is approaching. With the trailer is out, it sets the internet ablaze with its top notch action along with Anirudh's pumping background score. Leo is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on October 19. The buzz surrounding the film reached a crescendo with the recent unveiling of its trailer, setting the internet ablaze with excitement.

Going by the trailer and with the plot revealed in it, Vijay seems living in Kashmir with his family running a cafe or bakery. Trisha is seen as his wife. One day as some ruthless criminal takes over town, Vijay saves the day and becomes popular. Since then he and his family are being hunted by strangers who comes one after the another to the town. These were sent by Arjun and Sanjay Dutt as per the trailer. Don't know whether Lokesh intentionally wanted us to eblieve this is the story by cutting the trailer in this Version or there is another Side of it. 

But, as per the trailer this is the basic line of Leo. 13 years ago a Telugu film with Jagapathi Babu in the lead role was released as Gaayam 2. Vimala.Raman played the lead role. Gaayam 2 also has similar pattern but to make it as a sequel to iconic Gaayam, a political angle is inserted to the film. Ram Gopal Varma has presented this film and his assistant Praveen Sri directed it. 

Another interesting fact is Gaayam 2 itself is inspired from 2005 Hollywood masterpiece 'A History of Violence' directed by David Cronenberg, is a gripping crime thriller. The film revolves around a seemingly ordinary man, Tom Stall, whose life takes a dark turn when his heroic actions during a violent robbery attract national attention. As his past resurfaces, questions about his true identity and the depths of human violence come to the fore. In the context of 'Leo,' the parallels between the two films raise questions about the similar thematic elements.
