The Justice Srikrishna  panel, constituted to examine the situation in Andhra Pradesh with reference to the demand for a separate state of Telangana, received more than 14,000 representations from various organisations and in the form of memoranda and letters.  The  hurdle which the panel is facing at the moment  is with the translation as most of the representations are scripted in vernacular Telugu.

In a bid to overcome this hick-up, the Committee is understood to have asked the State Government to provide persons who can translate into English the thousands of representations written in Telugu.

According to sources, Srikrishna Committee wanted the translations of the representations on a war-footing so that the Committee can go ahead with consultations on the basis of the representations. The Committee had appointed five consultancy services to go through the representations and incorporate the data accordingly.

According to the Srikrishna Panel Member-Secretary VK Duggal, the Committee received more than 14,000 representations from various organisations and in the form of memoranda and letters. The Committee recently extended the date for receiving views and suggestions on the creation of separate Telangana up to April 10.
