Demanding an immediate discussion on water drinking problem in the state the Telugu Desam party legislators along with the Left party legislators disrupted the proceedings in the Assembly on Thursday.
With the Opposition storming the speaker’s podium and urging the speaker to take up the water scarcity issue through an adjournment motion, the House was first adjourned for 15 minutes and then for another 30 minutes.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah confessed that the water problem was serious but at the same time steps are being taken up by the Government to overcome the water crisis. `` The Government is reviewing the situation week after week and steps are being taken to meet the drinking water crisis,’’ the CM said.
However, the CM’s reply on water shortage did not satisfy the TDP and Left parties’ legislators who insisted on taking up with the issue. This led to the first adjournment.
Even after the break the opposition legislators continued in the same vein and the deputy speaker Nadendla Manohar who was in the chair had to adjourn the House for another 30 minutes.
Earlier in the morning the opposition legislators entered the Assembly premises carrying empty vessels symbolizing the scarcity of drinking water.
Before entering the Assembly the Opposition party legislators holding empty vessels were indulged in a mock street brawl near a drinking water tanker at the Gun Park.
