The Congress High Command successfully mellowed down pro-Telangana  Congress MLAs  Ramreddy Damodar Reddy and Muthyam Reddy to withdraw their resignations.

According to party circles,  the two Congress leaders along with Praja Rajyam Party MLA Maheshwar Reddy are likely to announce withdrawal of their resignation letters in a couple of  days.

The High Command seemed to have prevailed upon the two leaders explaining them the ground realities and the reasons for not conceding to a separate Telangnna demand immediately. Granting a separate state at this juncture would be suicidal for the Congress leadership as the move would benefit the Telangana Rashtra Samiti  in Telangana and Telugu Desam party in the Coastal and Rayalaseema regions.

"In case the separate statehood is granted as per demand, the TRS will become a force to reckon with in the Telangana region. The people of Andhra and Rayalaseema would vote for the TDP in the next elections since they would attribute the state's division to the Congress' weak handling of the entire issue," the High Command clarified to both the Telangana-based Congress leaders.

Now, it remains to be seen as to how both the leaders, who were part of the all-party Joint Action  Committee will play their cards and convince their followers who are rooting for the Telangana-statehood.
