TS, AP agree for amicable solution to contentious issues

The Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Governments have agreed to find amicable solutions through dialogue to the contentious issues between the two States.

The decision was taken by the representatives, including senior ministers, of both the States during the meeting convened by Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on Wednesday. Instead of engaging in legal battles, both the States have agreed to hold talks to resolve issues. It was also decided to wage a joint struggle to get deserved share in Krishna River. The representatives would discuss other issues in another joint meeting to be held on January 9.

The meeting was convened by the Governor to facilitate discussions between the representatives of both the States on issues pertaining to bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

While Telangana Government was represented by Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao, Energy Minister Jagadish Reddy, Advisor to TS Government G. Vivek, the Andhra Pradesh State was represented by Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Labour Minister Acham Naidu, Govt Chief Whip K. Srinivasulu. Senior officials of both the States were also present in the meeting.

Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Harish Rao informed that several issues including bifurcation of institutions under 9th and 10th Schedule, employees and High Court came up for discussion during the meeting. He said the relevant details would be furnished to the Governor soon. Later, all the issues between the two States would be resolved in a phased manner.

Meanwhile, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said instead of fighting in courts, it was appropriate for both the States to discuss and resolve the issues before the Governor.
