Former minister Konda Surekha and her husband Konda Murali joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi here on Tuesday.
The Konda couple was formally welcomed into the party by TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao at Telangana Bhavan here.
Speaking to reporters earlier, Surekha said that she had decided to join the TRS as this is the only party that could rebuild Telangana. She said that the TRS has achieved statehood for the region and it was best suited to rebuild the new State from scratch. When reminded about her criticism against KCR, she said she had earlier misunderstood KCR. However, Surekha said that she had realised that only KCR could ensure development in the region.
Welcoming Surekha's decision, TRS leader K Tarakarama Rao hoped that the party would get stronger in Warangal district. He advised the TRS workers to forget the post and concentrate on the future.
Earlier in the day, the Konda couple called on KCR and discussed their future course of action. KCR has reportedly offered the Warangal East Assembly seat to Surekha and an MLC seat to Murali.
