YSR Congress party leader Sharmila on Tuesday welcomed the decision of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen of severing its ties with the ruling Congress party.

Addressing a gathering at Adoni of Kurnool district as part of her "Maro Praja Prasthanam" padayatra, Sharmila said that her party wholeheartedly welcomes the decision taken by the MIM. She said that the decision reflects that the Congress party has deviated from the policies which were originally framed by her late father and former Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy. By praising the MIM's decision she gave clear indications that the YSR Congress party was looking for having a tie-up with the MIM in future.

However, Sharmila used the occasion to target Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu. She said after MIM's decision, the Congress Government has become weak. Stating that if Naidu was really honest in his words, then he should move a No Confidence Motion against Kiran Kumar Reddy Government.

Sharmila also slammed the State Government for doing away with the welfare schemes started by late YSR. She focused her speech on the non-implementation of schemes meant for women and youth, especially the fee reimbursement and scholarship schemes.

The YSRCP leader also greeted the people on the occasion of Deepawali festival.
