Telangana Congress Monitoring Group convener and PCC General Secretary G Niranjan on Monday accused Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu of adopting a dual stand on the Telangana issue.

Talking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan, Niranjan alleged that it was Naidu who stalled the formation of Telangana State when BJP-led NDA was in power at the Centre. He said the BJP contested the elections on the slogan of "One Vote, Two States". Although the BJP could not win a sizeable number of seats in the State, it was Naidu who prevented the formation of Telangana.

Niranjan said that at a time when the Centre was about to take a decision on the statehood issue, the TDP chief was confusing the Centre by making contradictory statements. While touring Seemandhra regions, Naidu advocated united Andhra Pradesh and soon after entering the Telangana region, he started making statements in favour of statehood, he alleged. He demanded that Naidu's should make his stand clear on the issue by passing a resolution on Telangana in the party's politburo meeting.
