The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee on Wednesday launched a bus yatra to create awareness regarding prevention of suicide by students and youth for the cause of statehood.

Talking to media persons after flagging off bus yatra at Gun Park, JAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram said that the Congress and Telugu Desam Party have prime responsibility to stop suicides by making their party's stand clear on the Telangana statehood. If both parties make their clear on the bifurcation of State issue, he said that the students would not resort to end their lives and pursue their studies peacefully.

Prof Kodandaram said that the bus yatra was also aimed at mounting pressure on both the parties to make their position clear on the statehood issue. He said that the bus yatra would cover 10 districts in Telangana region and would conclude on April 22. On the first day, the bus yatra would cover Vikarabad, Tandur, Parigi and Chevella.

Employees JAC leaders Swamy Goud and Srinivas Goud were also present in the programme. Earlier, the JAC leaders paid rich floral tributes to Telangana martyrs, who laid down their lives for the cause of separate Telangana at Martyrs memorial.
