Time for Congress MLAs to decide where their loyalties lie: YSR Cong

While accepting that the YSR Congress Party lacked the requisite numbers to pull down the N Kiran Kumar Reddy government, party leader Konathala Ramarakrishna on Thursday stated that it was now time for those MLAs elected during the stint of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy to decide if their loyalties lay with the Congress or with YSR.

Reminding the word given to AICC president Sonia Gandhi by Mr YS Jaganmohan Reddy at the time of his resignation from the Congress party, Mr Ramakrishna told media persons at the Sagar Society that though the YSR Congress Party would support the No Confidence Motion introduced by the Telugu Desam Party, it has no intention to collapse the government.

“We are supporting the No Confidence Motion only to register our protest against the failure of the state government on all fronts, particularly its indifferent attitude on the problems faced by the farmers,” the YSR Congress Party leader stated.

“Besides this, the Congress has also failed to implement former chief minister YSR’s schemes,” Mr Ramakrishna alleged.

The YSR Congress leader further said that, “Mr Jaganmohan Reddy had already said that he would extend support to any No Confidence Motion but would not introduce one of his own as he does not have enough numbers to do so.”

Mr Ramakrishna further added that, “We have to wait and see the commitment of Mr Chandrababu Naidu over the Motion. Did he take this decision on his own or was he forced to do so because of the challenge issued by Mr Jaganmohan Reddy is unclear. However, our party has decided to extend support to Mr Naidu if he is really committed to introduce the motion.”

The YSR Congress Party leader also stated that the TDP leader could utilize the opportunity for fixing the match with Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy to counter his leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy and to divert the attention of public to get political mileage.

“We have to cautiously wait and watch Mr Naidu’s commitment over the No Confidence Motion,” he stated.
