Mari Selvaraj on Maamannan. Mari Selvaraj's Maamannan is releasing on 29 June 2023. The political thriller stars Udayanidhi Stalin, Fahadh Faasil,Vadi Velu, and Keerthy Suresh in the lead role.

Director Mari Selvaraj said the film is inspired by real life incidents and is based on the core subject on the issue faced by society.

He said he had this subject in mind for many years but chose not to proceed ahead. He said when Udayanidhi Stalin approached him, he told him that the subject may not appeal to him but Udayanidhi and the producer loved the subject. He said while writing the story, he penned many scenes experiencing a lot of pain,.

He added that this will be a special film for Udayanidhi Stalin as it will be his last film as he will retire temporarily from the film industry. It is known that Udayanidhi Stalin entered politics and is now the Minister in Tamil Nadu government headed by his father Stalin.
