Alpha Ends Its Disastrous Run At BO

YRF’s Alpha has ended its theatrical run with around ₹55 crore India net. The first female-led film in the Spy Universe starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari recorded the franchise’s lowest collection. It is also the first Spy film to finish with only a double-digit net total.
Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha featured Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor in key roles. Despite action sequences and a new female-centric angle, audience interest remained low. Trade reports cite weak word of mouth and competition as key reasons behind the disappointing theatrical performance.
The Spy Universe decline continued with Tiger 3 managing average numbers and War 2 underperforming. Alpha’s rejection marks the third straight setback. The franchise earlier delivered big hits like Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War and Pathaan with high-octane action.
Following Alpha’s result, YRF has reportedly shelved upcoming projects including the planned Tiger vs Pathaan crossover. With audience fatigue toward spy thrillers growing, the studio will reassess strategy. Future sequels and spin-offs now remain uncertain as YRF focuses on rebuilding momentum.
