Telugu people are witnessing a never seen and brand new revolution initiated by none other than Janasena chief Power Star Pawan Kalyan. It is a known news that Pawan Kalyan announced a war on TV9, TV5, ABN and Mahaa News after they had tried to malign him for the past six months in all respects.
Pawan Kalyan hasn't just got his anger confined to criticize the channel heads. He has continually been posting interesting info on channel heads which showcased other shades of the media heads.
On the other hand, Pawan Kalyan called for a boycott on channels and the ways of blocking channels were explained to netizens in social media. Having taken Pawan Kalyan's call, netizens and most other fans of Pawan Kalyan started blocking the channels.
Eventually, the rating of TV9 mobile app fell down to 1.9. "TV 9 channel missed journalism. Please don't see TV9 journalism because channel showed very unnecessary matters from last one year," a review said. As TV9 fb rating also came down to 1, the channel removed rating option from its fb page. The fate of other targeted channels is also no more different to that of TV9.
On the other hand, ad agencies are contemplating to recheck their contracts with aforesaid channels. If at all, they move back from their contracts, the revenue of the channels would drastically be fallen down and which may even lead to closure of the channels.
Channels have already started damage control exercises. They sent feelers of apologies to Janasena chief. They also stopped airing debates with controversial personalities to defame top celebs of Tollywood.
What message can we get with all these happenings? Certainly social media turned much bigger platform than the electronic media. Of course, Power Star rightly used it in a right time.
