The State Assembly was adjourned for Wednesday as the Opposition Telugu Desam stalled the proceedings over the lathicharge on the students of Osmania varsity and the lawyers in New Delhi.
As soon as the House assembled for the day, the Telugu Desam members sought an adjournment motion on Monday's police action on the Telangana advocates in New Delhi leading to chaos in the House.
The House was adjourned thrice in the day as Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy disallowed adjournment motion introduced by TDP member Nagam Janardhan Reddy on the issue of lathicharge on lawyers in New Delhi and on Osmania University campus in the wake of an activist's suicide on Feb 20.
Referring to the lathicharge on the lawyers in Delhi, the Speaker told the TDP members that they could not raise an issue which had occurred outside the State. He asked the TDP legislators to follow Assembly rules before raising an issue.
However, the TDP members stuck to their guns protesting against the lathicharge on lawyers and students on Osmania University campus.
Later, the Speaker moved on to the zero hour. After repeated appeals, as the House did not get back to normal business, the Speaker adjourned the House until Wednesday.
