Commissioner of Police A K Khan on Wednesday deposed before the Human Rights Commission with regard to the lathicharge by the police forces on Osmania University campus on Sunday.
The commissioner appealed to the media and the students to restrain themselves while carrying out their programmes. He requested the committee formed by the State Human Rights Commission to probe the Sunday's incidents on OU campus to submit its report at the earliest.
It is learnt that the SHRC probe panel visited the campus and collected vital information on the incidents. In the Sunday night’s violence on the campus, about 30 students and six media persons were injured when police fired rubber bullets and used batons and teargas shells to disperse the agitating mobs.
Meanwhile, the Government asked 31 Central Reserve Police personnel who were responsible for the brutal attacks on the OU campus were asked not to leave the headquarters till further orders.
