Congress legislators R Damodar Reddy and Ch Mutyam Reddy have been summoned by the Congress High Command to Delhi to discuss the issue of resignations.
The two staunch Telangana supporters have quit their membership in protest against the terms of reference (TOR) of the Justice Srikrishna Committee. The duo claimed that the TOR favoured the integrated state and the committee, if allowed to work on the lines, would not recommend creation of Telangana state.
Before their resignations were accepted by Speaker N Kirankumar Reddy, the two were asked by the party High Comand to reach Delhi for talks. The duo would meet party in-charge of the State, M Veerappa Moily, AICC president Sonia Gandhi’s political secretary Ahmed Patel and others during their visit to Delhi.
Before leaving for Delhi, the Reddys said they would lobby with the High Command to change the terms of reference in favour of the Telangana state. They expressed confidence that the High Command would sympathetically look into the matter.
Interestingly, Praja Rajyam Party MLA, Maheswar Reddy, whose resignation has not been accepted so far, is also accompanying the two Congress MLAs to New Delhi.
