Radhika Apte Criticises Her Role In Legend Calls It A Difficult Experience

Bollywood actress Radhika Apte has once again sparked discussion with her comments about working in Telugu cinema. While promoting her latest Netflix series Akka, the actress spoke about Balakrishna’s 2014 film Legend and described her experience as one of the toughest parts of her acting career.

Recalling her role in Legend, Radhika said she had to play a character who marries her own uncle in the story. She also expressed discomfort over romancing a much older co star in what she described as a patriarchal setup. According to the actress, accepting and performing such a role was particularly challenging.

Radhika also recalled a difficult sequence in which her character dies midway through the film. She explained that the scene involved Balakrishna’s character carrying her dead body on his shoulders during an action sequence. Legend, directed by Boyapati Srinu, featured Balakrishna in a dual role, with Radhika and Sonal Chauhan playing the female leads. Released in 2014, the action drama became a commercial success.

These comments have brought back attention to Radhika’s earlier remarks about the Telugu film industry, including a viral interview clip in which she criticised its male dominated working culture. Her latest statements have triggered mixed reactions among Telugu movie fans. While some believe performers should be able to speak openly about uncomfortable experiences and the way women are portrayed in films, many question why actresses accept such roles when they can't feel comfortable and point out later.
