T-Congress finalises strategy for all-party meeting

The Congress leaders from Telangana region have finalised the strategy to be adopted in the all-party meeting convened by the Group of Ministers (GoM) on Telangana.

The T-Congress leaders, including ministers, had a detailed meeting at the residence of Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy here on Monday. Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, who has been nominated by the Pradesh Congress Party to represent the Telangana region in the all-party meeting, was also present in the meeting.

According to sources, the T-Congress leaders have expressed concern over alleged reports that AK Antony Committee has recommended either Union Territory status for Hyderabad or keeping it under Governor's rule for 10 years, the period during which it will be the joint capital of two States. The leaders were of the view that there should be no change in the status of Hyderabad although it could be the joint capital of two States, with no strings attached. Further, the T-Congress leaders were firm that Bhadrachalam revenue division should be part of Telangana State after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

The T-Congress leaders also insisted on a special package for Telangana for the fast development of the new State.

Leaders including Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy, State Ministers D Sridhar Babu, Basvaraj Saraiah, DK Aruna, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy and Uttam Kumar Reddy, MPs Gutta Sukhender Reddy and Palvai Goverdhan Reddy, former PCC chief D Srinivas and other leaders were present in the meeting.
