Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA T Harish Rao on Sunday announced that his party would scrap the system of contract workers after the formation of Telangana State.
Addressing the third anniversary of Medical and Health Contract Workers' Union at Telangana Bhavan here, Harish Rao said that the contract system was detrimental to the interest of workers. Therefore, instead of hiring workers on contract basis, the government should hire their services on regular basis. He assured that the contract system would be completely disbanded soon after the formation of separate Telangana State.
Harish Rao said the contract system was originally introduced by former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and was continued by his successor late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
The Siddipet MLA also alleged the development and administration in the State has come to a halt due to the differences between Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and his cabinet colleagues. He said that the Chief Minister and other ministers were more interested in protecting their seats than resolving the problems being faced by the people.
