Scene Registers Career Second Biggest Opening For Suriya

Suriya’s latest release, Scene, has made an impressive start at the box office. Directed by Jithu Madhavan, the Tamil crime comedy thriller collected Rs. 20 crore net in India on its opening day, November 6. Its worldwide gross reportedly reached Rs. 35 crore registering his second highest opening in his career. First is Kanguva with 50 crore gross worldwide on its first day.
The Tamil version contributed Rs. 16+ crore, while the Telugu version added Rs. 3+ crore. The film stars Suriya as a visually impaired police officer, alongside Nazriya Nazim, Naslen, Tovino Thomas and Lal. Positive early reviews and the Diwali holiday could help its collections grow over the weekend.
Scene has also surpassed the opening day collections of Suriya’s two earlier 2026 releases. Karuppu collected Rs. 15.50 crore net in India and Rs. 28.93 crore worldwide on day one, while Vishwanath & Sons earned Rs. 15.35 crore net domestically and Rs. 31.74 crore worldwide.
With Rs. 20 crore net in India and Rs. 35 crore worldwide, Scene has recorded Suriya’s biggest opening of the year so far. This is remarkable considering the screen crunch all over due to Big release for Nayanthara Mookuthi Amman 2 in Tamil Nadu along with Ramayana and also Rajinikanth Jailer 2 holding notable number of screens. The strong start puts him on a promising run after two successful releases, with the film’s weekend performance now expected to determine how far it can go.
