For once, Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu was seen relaxed and happy.
After the intense ‘battles’ in the state Assembly with the Congress and the almost continuous attack against him by pro-Telangana leaders, the former chief minister took the opportunity offered by the arrival of a group belonging to the Lambada community to greet him a very festive and happy Holi.
Mr Naidu was seen letting his guard down and enjoying himself by dancing with about 30 women from the Lamabada community while the men gave voice to songs about the festival.
The women applied colour to Mr Naidu’s cheeks and wished him a happy Holi while earlier, the men had bound a turban on the TDP chief’s head.
After being garlanded, Mr Naidu stepped down and extended his greetings not just to the gathering at his residence, but also to the people of the state and the Telugus around the world.
Mr Naidu said that the Holi festival was evidence of the spirit of brotherhood and gaiety. He said that the festival spreads joy and cuts across the religious divide. Mr Naidu said that he hoped that the coming year will bring peace, prosperity, happiness, well being and joy in the state.
