Hombale Films, the Kannada production house headed by Vijay Kirgandur needs no introduction. It KGF 1 & 2 with Yash in Prashanth Neel's direction has earned the banner name, fame, and fortune. Now, Hombale Films started to spread its wilngs to other languages by producing films. As their first release, Malayalam film Dhoomam was released on 23 June. The result of Dhoomam gave them their first set back.
The banner which started producing Kannada films mostly with Late Puneeth Rajkumar scored superhits with him. After KGF 1 & 2, their success streak was followed by the magnanimous success of Kantara across India. Now, any film coming out of Hombale Films is expected to be a bonafide Blockbuster. Now, with Dhoomam starring Fahadh Faasil in the lead role, the film was released in Malayalam and Kannada languages.
The film is directed by Pawan Kumar who earlier directed pathbreaking Kannada films Lucia and U-turn. Fahadh Faasil being a Malayalam Hero, He is well-known In Tamil with Kamal Haasan Vikram and in Telugu with Allu Arjun Pushpa. These factors made Hombale to initiate the project Dhoomam in Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu and Tamil languages. But, only released in Malayalam and Kannada languages.
Dhoomam is a thriller deals with the repercussions of chewing Tobacco and smoking cigarettes seems intriguing as a story but falters in execution as per mouth talk and reviews. The film which was made with 8 Crs has only made 2 Crs hardly in its first two days. This is the first failure from Hombale Films. But, the production house has Prabhas starrer Salaar, a pan India biggie which has all the ability to recreate box office numbers India wide is slated to release on September 28th.
