Tollywood is the land of rising sons. Elder Heroes are searching for new roles leaving the lover boy and action hero roles to their kin. This one appears to be the latest trend. Chiranjeevi has taken to the savior’s role ever since his next generation came into the lime light. Nagarjuna and Venkatesh are in same frame of mind going by characters which they are playing these days.

Frankly speaking, NTR and ANR had no such problems as there was a lot of gap and they had a long stint before their kids entered the filmdom. For Nagarjuna, his son Naga Chaitanya hogged the lights in mid twenties kept on going first as student, lover and then gangster. Some of the heroines refused to act with Nagarjuna as third generation star from same family is in the field. This left Nag to play roles like ‘Rajanna’ and ‘Sai Baba.’

Venkatesh has come of age had and is to yield some ground to his brother’s son Rana. So, he played the role of Police Commissioner in ‘Eenadu’ and an action packed ‘Bodyguard’ releasing soon followed by elder brother role to Mahesh Babu in ‘Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ and ‘Swami Vivekananda.’

In the case of Nandamuri clan, NTR did introduce his two sons, Hari Krishna and Balakrishna. While Balayya continued to rule, ‘Seethayya’ disappeared. Same applies for Krishna and his sons Mahesh Babu, Ramesh Babu along with Krishnam Raju and Prabhas is other variation in the industry.

With emergence of Nagarjuna, Venkatesh and in later period Mahesh Babu, it was the emergence of second generation. Now, Jr. NTR, Ramcharan, Naga Chaitanya and Rana mark the coming of third generation trying to take the grip.

Though there are actors, directors and technicians who introduced their kin into films, they do not have backing of any production house nor have background of Konidela, Akkineni and Nandamuri families...so disappeared quickly. Very few without any family background survived.
