Jailer 2 Emerges Highest Everywhere Except In Tamil Nadu

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has delivered a record breaking box office run across India and overseas markets, setting new benchmarks for Tamil cinema. The film has reportedly crossed Rs. 800 crore worldwide, becoming the highest grossing Tamil film. It has also performed exceptionally well in Telugu States, Karnataka, Kerala and international markets.

However, Tamil Nadu remains one major exception in its historic box office journey. The film has collected approximately Rs. 215 crore gross in its home state, marking the first time a Rajinikanth film has crossed the Rs. 200 crore milestone there. Despite this achievement, it remains behind Ponniyin Selvan 1, which holds the Tamil Nadu record with over Rs. 230 crore.

The film's theatrical run has slowed considerably following the arrival of Diwali releases, including Suriya's Scene, Nayanthara's Mookuthi Amman 2 and Ramayana. Jailer 2 is now running on a limited number of screens, with its Tamil Nadu daily collection reportedly dropping to around Rs. 30 lakh. It is expected to finish below Rs. 220 crore in the state.

Jailer 2 has also come close to creating another major record in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana but is likely to miss the Rs. 100 crore gross milestone. The film is expected to finish its Telugu states theatrical run at approximately Rs. 95+ crore, making it the highest grossing Tamil film in the region so far.

Two major factors have affected Jailer 2's final collections. New theatrical releases have taken over most screens, while its expected Amazon Prime Video premiere on November 12 has encouraged some audiences to wait for the digital release.
