Konidela Family’s Second National Award After Rudraveena

Niharika Konidela’s debut production Committee Kurrollu won Best Telugu Feature Film at the 72nd National Film Awards. The actor-producer called it the “most happiest moment of my 32-year life.” The rural drama struck a balance between critical acclaim and box office success with newcomers in lead roles.

Directed by Yadhu Vamsi, the film was praised for authentic village setting, emotional storytelling and relatable characters. It emerged as one of Telugu cinema’s notable films this year. The National honor cements its place and marks a strong start for Niharika’s Pink Elephant Pictures banner.

This is the second National Award for the Konidela family. Decades ago, Niharika’s father Naga Babu won the Nargis Dutt Award for Rudraveena starring Chiranjeevi at the 36th National Awards. The film was lauded for national integration but underperformed commercially.

With Committee Kurrollu, Niharika achieved both praise and profits. She is now producing Bhari starring Varun Tej, a rural sports drama based on volleyball in Andhra Pradesh. After a National Award debut, all eyes are on how she shapes her next productions.
