KVN Productions Takes Back Jana Nayagan Release From Distributors

KVN Productions has decided to refund all distributors of Vijay’s last film Jana Nayagan. The production house will now release the movie on its own after finishing all legal and censor work. The move comes after long delays that have pushed the film back for months. Reports say actor Vijay asked the team to clear the dues to avoid more problems. Fans have been waiting for the film as it is his final movie before he moves full time into politics.
The film has faced issues since January 2026. Problems with production, censor approval, and distribution stopped the release. Many expected the movie to come out in May or June after Vijay became Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10, 2026. But the issues were not solved. Earlier, the film also faced a leak from the post-production team, which added to the trouble. Overseas partners had to return around Rs 8 crore from advance bookings when the January release was cancelled.
KVN Productions is under heavy financial pressure now. The company has close to Rs 1000 crore stuck in delayed films. This list includes Jana Nayagan, Yash’s Toxic, and KD The Devil. Toxic also lost its March 19 release date due to similar problems. With self-release now planned, KVN will handle theatres, marketing, and shows directly. The team must first solve all legal cases and get the censor certificate.
There is no new release date yet for Jana Nayagan. The film is important because it is Vijay’s last screen role. He is now Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and has moved to full time public service. Fans and the film industry are waiting for a clear update. KVN Productions says it will share the plan once all approvals are in place.
