Director on Vikram Cobra result. In a candid interview, director Ajay Gnanamuthu, known for his upcoming film "Demonte Colony 2," has finally revealed the behind-the-scenes story of his 2021 film "Cobra." Gnanamuthu, who initially hesitated about the core storyline of "Cobra," ultimately succumbed to pressure and went ahead with the film, resulting in what he describes as the "costliest mistake" of his career.

During a podcast with SS Music, Gnanamuthu shared that the initial script he pitched to producer Lalit Kumar of Seven Screen Studio was rejected. He then collaborated with another writer, but that script was also met with a no. It was at this point that the producer presented his own script, which left Gnanamuthu unconvinced. He felt strongly that the core idea of the story had flaws.

"We can change the screenplay, but we cannot change the core," Gnanamuthu explained, highlighting his initial reservations.

Despite his concerns, the director felt pressured to proceed, as the project had already consumed eight months of work and a limited four-month shooting window remained. The producer, confident in his script, persisted, and Gnanamuthu, along with his team, found themselves in a dilemma.

Ultimately, the team decided to go ahead with the producer's script, reasoning that perhaps they were viewing it from a different perspective and could fix the issues. They focused on polishing the screenplay while keeping the core one-liner intact.

"That one-liner proved to be the costliest mistake," Gnanamuthu confessed, adding that it has been two years since the film's release and he had kept this detail private until now.

While expressing no regrets about making the film, Gnanamuthu admitted that he made the wrong decision. He emphasized the importance of trusting his initial instincts, acknowledging that he failed to do so in this instance.

"Cobra," a psychological action thriller starring Chiyaan Vikram in dual roles, received negative reviews and underperformed at the box office. The film featured a supporting cast including Srinidhi Shetty, Irfan Pathan, Roshan Mathew, Sarjano Khalid, Mirnalini Ravi, Miya George, KS Ravikumar, Anandaraj, Robo Shankar, and Meenakshi Govindarajan.

Gnanamuthu's candid admission provides valuable insight into the complexities of filmmaking and the sometimes-unavoidable challenges of compromising creative vision.
