Puri Jagannadh, has changed the rules of filmmaking. In modern day cinema, he showed that a star hero film can be made within 50 days and can deliver an Industry Hit with it. He changed the dynamics of hero and his characteristics. The Puri Jagannadh's hero is fearless, full of energy and most importantly relatable. Puri is the only director who strikes a perfect balance of above mentioned qualities in his lead actor. The industry followed.

Puri Jagannadh came from the school of Ram Gopal Varma and carved a niche of himself. Every other director who came out of RGV's chool tried to make films like RGV at least at the beginning of their career. Only Puri Jagannadh made films with different style, in his own style without resembling his guru. He made a debut with Pawan Kalyan's Badri costarring Renu Desai and Ameesh Patel. The film became a superhit hit and gave a god push to him in the industry.

Even after delivering a Superhit with Badri, Puri is still struggling for his next film. Badri has Puri's mark but it is more like a Pawan Kalyan film. He made Baachi with Jagapathi Babu but failed. Then he debut to Kannada film industry and made Yuvaraja with Shiva Rajkumar which is a remake of Pawan Kalyan's Thammudu. It became a decent success.

Puri decided to deliver his kind of film, the will show his mark. He made Itlu Sravani Subrahmanyam with Ravi Teja. The film became a superhit earning fame for Puri as writer and director and Ravi Teja too. Then the duo continued making films Idiot and Amma Nanna O Tamil Ammayi, which became blockbusters and made Ravi Teja a star.

Puri introduced Puneeth Rajkumar with APPU which was later remade in Telugu as Idiot. Then after setbacks with Andhrawala and 143 introducing his brother Sai Ram Shankar as hero. Then he made Super with Nagarjuna and scored a decent success. In 2006, he made 'Pokiri' with Mahesh Babu and the rest is history. The film gave the much needed star status to Director Puri Jagannadh. It gave widespread recognition to Puri allover the country as the film was remade in multiple languages. 

Then he scored Superhits with Desamuduru, Chirutha introducing Ram Charan as hero, Businessman, and Temper. The rest of the films disappointed at the box office. He has finally a scored a blockbuster with Ram as iSmart Shankar. Now they are making plans to make a sequel as Double ISMART.
