Anand Chakrapani looked good in the role of grandfather. He carried the emotions right from the start till the finish promoting the Gandhian principles and trying to change the thought process of others in the village. The conversation between Grandfather, Granddaughter and the tree elevated emotions and connects chords with the movie lovers.
Rag Mayur left his mark as the company owner showing his attitude and style. Raghuram and Lavanya performed well in the roles of the parents in a natural way. Actors who played the roles of teacher and kids who played the roles of friends looked natural and performed realistically.

Gandhi Tatha Chettu story penned by director Padmavathi Malladi story is simple and been seen and shown on screen by various filmmakers earlier. Factory owner trying to acquire the lands of the villagers forcibly promising various sops like jobs etc and villagers who first agree to part with their lands due to difficulty in growing crops and then antagonist trying to convince them and finally succeeding is nothing new.
However, Padmavathi loaded the film with beautiful emotions that connect chords with the viewers and talking about Gandhi's principles and highlighting Satyagraha and school children thinking on similar lines are novel. On paper, the story looks simple with no scope for drama but Padmavathi turned simple story adding emotions through convincing and realistic dialogues taking viewers on a realistic ride.
The narration touches hearts with a simple screenplay and direction and the climax brings an apt ending to the story. However, at times the director took cinematic liberties and included few illogical scenes in a convenient manner. Those things could be ignored for the sincere effort of the makers.
The music of Ree is soothing and soulful taking viewers into the story. Viswa Devabattula, and Srijitha Cheruvupalli used the camera angles to show the village atmosphere in an appealing manner. Harish Shanker's editing is sleek except for drags here and there. Production values are decent.
Altogether, Gandhi Tatha Chettu is a feel good message oriented film. People may not come to theatres as the film has low buzz and feature only a small child in the lead role. However the film will capture the imagination of all when released on OTT and people will then realise why the film got so many international awards and won the accolades of all.
