Governor The Silent Savior story revolves around the real life happenings in the country when India was on the verge of bankruptcy during the 1990s and how RBI Governor fought against all odds to save the nation.
Following the Iraq's invasion on Kuwait, US launches an all-out attack on Iraq in the in the 90s. During that time, entire world got impacted and even India went on the verge of bankruptcy. With the resignation of RBI governor, RN. Malhotra in the crisis, A. Ramanan (Manoj Bajpayee) is appointed as the new governor.
He faces the stark reality when he takes charge of RBI as the Governor and even his staff, Dy Governor Rangarajan aka CR (Noushad Mohamed Kunju) and others have little confidence in him. Things look bleak as the country is headed by the minority government headed by PM Chandrasekhar, Finance Minister Yashwanth Sinha with the outside support from the Congress party. Whether Ramanan is able to save India from bankruptcy and what role his wife Vindhitha (Madhoo Sharma), news savvy journalist Aditi Varma (Adah Sharma) played form the interesting part.

Manoj Bajpayee slipped into the role effortlessly. He is known for his exceptional talent and brings in his experience to elevate the scenes. He carried the film on his shoulders and his realistic performance, subtle expressions , body language and the way he showed emotions in his eyes are a treat to watch. He delivered dialogues with ease and showed variations according to the situation.
Adah Sharma is good in the role of an investigative journalist. She made her presence felt as a journalist who goes all out for the exclusive scoops. Noushad Mohamed Kunju matched Manoj Bajpayee with his performance. The scenes featuring him and Manoj Bajpayee made the narration interesting and exciting. The clash of ideologies etc are shown in a realistic manner with out any jingoism.
Madhubala is good in the role of a typical housewife. She got limited screen presence but she she made it count with her performance. Jaywant Wadkar is good in the role of a peon in the RBI. He role comes with natural and realistic flair and he did full justice with his screen presence. The rest of the cast did full justice to their roles with their performances.

Governor The Silent Savior story is penned by Suvendu Bhattacharjee, Saurabh Bharat, Ravi Asrani, Vipul Amrutlal Shah and is helmed by Chinmay D. Mandlekar. The writers did extensive research on the happenings during the 90s across the globe and the situation prevalent in India. He started the narration in an interesting manner and from then on he maintained a steady pace through out the film till the end.
The developments in the then Government, RBI, political circles, opposition parties and how common people reacted are depicted in a perfect and effective manner. The measures taken by the RBI and the opposition faced by the governor during the meetings and the pressures from the government and the coalition politics is highlighted in an interesting way with the tight screenplay. The first half ends with the challenges of the governor becoming bigger and the second half shows how the RBI staff and top officials as a team join hands to convince the government against all odds to take strong decisions and maintain secrecy so that the people's trust will not be broken down or shattered. There are also lighter moments like peon's daughter's achievement and how the governor draws inspiration from common people to solve the crisis.
The screenplay is interesting and tight and direction is good. The crisp runtime is an added advantage to the film. Dialogues are natural and realistic and witty at times evoking few smiles. The film ends in an interesting manner with the journalist taking a sensational decision despite coming to know about the shocking developments involving the Government and RBI.
Meghna Manchanda Sen, Sanjay Sharma's editing is perfect to the core. They ensured that the film had a crisp runtime and no repetitive and unnecessary scenes are present slowing the pace of the film that usually impact the film's final output. They should be commended for their efforts and perfection.
Mannan Shaah's background score added value to the narration. His background music elevated the scenes and the emotions attached to them in a perfect manner taking viewers into the story. Vishal Sinha with his cinematography depicted the 90s happenings in a natural and realistic way. He with the camera angles and color combinations carried the essence of the film quite well.
Production values are decent enough for the film's budget.

Altogether, Governor turns out to be a realistic take on the happenings in the India during the 90s. Manoj Bajpayee came up with an exceptional performance. Director Chinmay D. Mandlekar conducted extensive research so that he did not miss any important facts and developments during that time. He stuck to the story and did not deviate from the main point under any circumstances. His story is realistic and screenplay and direction is quite good. However the serious tone and lack of commercial elements may put off the viewers. But it is a very good film for Gen Z and others to know about the happenings in the past and how the people mattered strove hard to save the country going against all odds. The film is expected to get good response when it streams on OTT. Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 2.75 for Governor.
