Samantha starrer mythological love story Shaakuntalam in Gunasekhar's direction faces another setback. Shaakuntalam which was supposed to release in November last year has been delayed due to incompletion of 3D work. It has been announced to release on 17th February.
News are doing rounds that the release of Shaakuntalam might shift from February 17th to a later date. The film's promotions are full swing and recently released trailer and songs grabbed the attention of audiences. Samantha is also completing her dubbing. When everything goes well for the project, an unexpected situation has come up.
Karthik Aaryan starrer Shehzada which is an official remake of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo is supposed to release on 10th February has been pushed to a week later to 17th February due to Shahrukh Khan's Pathaan doing exceptionally well at the boxoffice. So, theatres are not interested in losing the collections they are earning through Pathaan. This makes the makers of Shehzada move to Feb 17th. As Shaakuntalam is also being planned as a pan India release, it won't get much screens with Shehzada releasing on the same day.
This made the makers to hold the release of Shaakuntalam. An official announcement in this regard will be out very soon. Shaakuntalam is Produced by Neelima Guna under Gunaa Team Works while Dil Raju is presenting it under Dil Raju Productions banner.
