Suspension of 25 Congress MPs by the speaker Sumitra Mahajan has not gone down well with the opposition parties and the supporters of democracy. The act of Congress MPs, who were carrying placards and shouting slogans demanding the resignation of top BJP leaders over the Lalit Modi controversy and Vyapam scam, was felt as 'persistently, wilfully obstructing the House' by the speaker.
However, the Rajyasabha MP Chiranjeevi reacted aggressively on the speaker's act. He released a press note of condemning BJP's dictatorship.
"Suspension of Congress MP's from the Lok Sabha is a cowardly act by the ruling BJP.The BJP leadership forgotten the way it stalled the functioning of the Parliament over the last 3 yrs? Indians have always rejected and fought agaisnt this kind of authoritative way of governance.Present govt appears to be drunk on power. People will teach them a lesson in the coming days," said Chiranjeevi.
Having considered it as a black day for Indian democracy, nine opposition parties have decided not to attend the House in support of the suspended MPs.
