One key reason behind the absence of a second season announcement is Naga Chaitanya's desire to step away from the OTT space. Despite the success and popularity of "Dhootha," he prefers to focus on his upcoming film, "Thandel," directed by Chandoo Mondeti. Naga Chaitanya invested a significant amount of time and effort into "Thandel," undergoing a transformation for the role.

Unlike some Hindi actors who balance both films and OTT projects, Telugu stars like Naga Chaitanya are cautious about overexposure on smaller screens, which could impact their image and market value. The accessibility of a hero on OTT platforms might reduce the excitement surrounding their big-screen releases.

Furthermore, director Vikram Kumar, who helmed "Dhootha," is currently occupied with other commitments. He is set to collaborate with Nithiin after 15 years, and there are also discussions regarding a project with Nagarjuna. These commitments leave no room for "Dhootha 2" in the immediate future. However, Vikram Kumar has expressed his intent to develop 3-4 stories set against the backdrop of "Dhootha," although it remains to be seen whether Naga Chaitanya will feature in these projects as the lead.
