Lathi charges, rubber bullet shoot outs and of course tear gas explosions have now became a part of academic syllabus for Osmania University students. In a shocking incident that happened on Sunday night, the girl students who were injured by the violent attack of Police on them alleged that there was not even a single women police personnel present during the lathi charge on girls.
PG girl Students commented, ‘Policemen pulled us by the hair and some by their chunnis. They whistled and hooted, while we limped our way back to the hostel. They have disconnected the power supply and attacked on us with the tear gas shells and rubber bullets. Are we terrorists? Why is this harassment from Police?’
Not just college girls, even small time shop keepers like Tea stall, puncture shop owners were also known to be attacked by Police and a tea stall owner was almost crying saying that his bike was burnt by Police.
Osmania University Vice-Chancellor has expressed his concerns about the attacks on girl students and is known to respond once preliminary report is received.
