Stalemate on T-issue continues, all-parties to strive for peace

New Delhi, Jan5:The much-awaited all-party conclave on Telangana convened by Home Minister P Chidambaram on Tuesday lasted  for nearly  four and half  hours before ending inconclusively as the parties failed to reach a consensus on the simmering issue. However, all the parties appealed to the people of Andhra Pradesh to strive for peace. On the conclusion of the meeting, a pensive looking Chidambaram said, “Government of India will act on the sense of the Telangana meeting within a reasonable time-frame.” However, the Minister did not set a time-frame.

“It was perceptible at the conclave that political parties were divided in their opinion on the issue. We will convey their views to the Prime Minister and senior members of the Government and then we will formulate the further course of action,” he added.Chidambaram made it categorical that: “Nobody in the meeting was opposed to the idea of further consultations.”Surprisingly, the Telangnana Rashtra Samiti, which spearheaded the Telangnana issue for a separate state chose to put the ball back in the Centre’s court after explaining its stand.
