Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday suffered minor injuries after he fell down following the collapse of a makeshift dais while trying to receive memorandum from a group of students in Kolakaluru village here.

The incident occurred while Chandrababu Naidu, after garlanding the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar, leaned towards some students who wanted to give memorandums. However, the dais suddenly caved in. Naidu was held on by his security personnel although the TDP leader sustained minor injuries on his leg.

Although Naidu put up a brave face after the incident, doctors were called to examine his injured leg and a decision on continuation of his Vastunna Mee Kosam padayatra would be taken later. According to a TDP leader, Naidu got a sprain on the ankle and was unable to walk properly.

Former minister Alapati Rajendra Prasad and several students were also injured in the incident.

This is the second time that Naidu has been injured in a similar incident of dais collapse during his Vastunna Mee Kosam padayatra. He suffered minor injuries on the back when a dais caved in during a public meeting at Gadwal in Mahabubnagar district October 27 last year.
