Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday came down heavily on the Congress party for suspending its eight MPs from the region for raising statehood issue in the Parliament.
Talking to media persons, Kcr said that the Congress party has ridiculed democracy by suspending its own MPs, who demanded honouring of promise made to the Telangana people by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram. Stating that MPs stalled the proceedings in the House in order to press their demand of people in their region, he said the MPs wanted an explanation from the government over its stand on the statehood issue.
By suspending the MPs, he said that the Congress has once again insulted the democratic rights of people and cheated the people of region. Terming the suspension of MPs as `unfortunate’ and `undemocratic’, the TRS chief said that the Congress party has to pay a heavy price for neglecting the aspirations of Telangana people.
Kcr said that the people of the region would teach a fitting lesson to Congress party in the ensuing elections and the party would be completely wiped out from Telangana.
