Ysr Congress Party on Monday took strong objection to some Congress leaders trying to play out the caste and religious cards to defame YSR and his family members and challenged N Kiran Kumar Reddy to seek a fresh mandate as he lost confidence in himself and was blaming providence for his failures.
“Some leaders are trying to bring in caste and religious equations to scale down the growing popularity of Ysr Congress Party and this ploy will not work and people will teach them a fitting lesson at the hustings,” Party spokesperson Bajiredy Govardhan told reporters here.
These very leaders should also have asked the caste and religion of the Delhi high command before raising such a hue and cry, he said adding that it is not in the best interest of politics to bring in such narrow minded equations to the fore.
“The chief minister had said that he did not assume office on an auspicious day and was thus facing many hurdles. If he feels the same, he can seek and fresh mandate which will solve all problems,” he said.
The chief minister’s cabinet colleagues speaking of caste and religion cannot be without his knowledge and approval, he said adding this was not in good taste. The persons who are vocal about this issue certainly have Chief Minister’s backing and approval, he said.
Kiran Kumar Reddy giving up hopes at the very first mass contact programme, Praja Patham held in Visakhapatnam district by telling them that he took the reins on an inauspicious day, speaks of his inefficiency, he said.
YSR had built the party brick by brick in the State while Kiran Kumar Reddy has been weeding out the welfare schemes one by one which is causing dissent among the people and was reflected in the recent seven by-elections and will be repeat in the ensuing assembly elections, he said.
