Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Monday called upon the youth, particularly students not to resort to extreme steps for the cause of Telangana statehood.

Addressing the Telangana activists in Khanapur as part of bus yatra taken up to create awareness among students against suicides, Kodandaram said that the students should not sacrifice their lives for the Telangana demand and instead, they should intensify their struggle until they achieve the separate state. “The students should prove that the Telangana will be possible through consistent struggle. The students can achieve nothing by ending their lives,” he said.

The JAC chairman asked the activists to expose the Telangana Congress leaders dishonouring their promise given to Telangana people and Telangana Telugu Desam Forum’s ambivalent stand on the statehood issue. He accused the Congress and TDP of obstructing the Telangana state formation by not making their stand clear on the statehood issue and cheating the people of region by making controversial and provocative statements.

If the Congress and TDP did not make their party stand clear on the statehood issue before the end of Parliament's Budget session, he said that the Telangana issue would cost them dearly and both parties would be completely wiped out from the region.
